How to Achieve Superior Health both Mentally and Physically

As I am writing this I am 63 years old and have never felt better and healthier in my life.

In this article I will detail some of the things that I have been doing and continue to do to achieve this.

First I have to start out with the mental aspect of good health because I believe that the mind controls everything

Without a good state of mind you cannot have good health. It is important to have a very positive frame of mind, to really believe that you are feeling great and will continue to feel better. Some people are always looking for the negative aspects of any situation and others look for the positive.

I believe that if you look for the positive you will find it and that the reverse is also true.

I start each day taking a few minutes to think of all the things in my life that I am grateful for. We all have so much to be grateful for and this is easy to do. It starts you off on the right path and you will find that as the day goes on you have more to be grateful for. I also believe in reading motivational material listening to and viewing motivational material throughout the day as time permits. I always do this while exercising which brings me to my next point.

If a body is not in motion daily it cannot stay healthy.

We were meant to be active and many of us lead sedentary lives today. I exercise before my breakfast and before the day begins because I like to get it out of the way early however this is just a personal choice.

My main exercise is walking and I am a racewalker.

meaning I like to walk fast. Any speed of walking will due for starting out and any style is fine. The important thing is to do it every day. I recommend 20 to 30 minutes of some type of aerobic activity and you should really do the type that you like best. I also spend about 10 minutes a day on a rebounder (mini trampoline) and highly recommend this as a low impact and lymph system cleansing type of exercise. I spend about 3 days a week in a health club using the weights to keep the upper body strong and I feel that cardio mixed with some weight training is a great combination. I recommend starting to walk at any pace that is comfortable and simply increasing the pace as it feels natural. The same can be said when working with weights. Pushing too hard to fast can cause injury.

Now it’s time for breakfast and this puts us on the subject of food.

You cannot be healthy without eating the right foods because food is truly the fuel for our bodies and minds. I am a vegetarian who happens to consume very little dairy but I am not recommending this for everyone nor do I believe that vegetarianism is the only way to be healthy. I recommend organic foods when possible and especially when eating meats or dairy this is important. In addition the the hormones that are fed to most animals to fatten them up there is so much genetic engineering occurring with the animals are fed that the only way to avoid this is to eat strictly organic. I recommend this for all fruits, vegetables, seeds and nuts as well.Healthy Nuts As I said the amount of genetically modified foods that exist today would surprise all of us and this is not disclosed on the labels. Bottom line is the closer to nature that you eat the healthier you will be.
Also cooking can devitalize food so we should all eat as much raw food as possible. That’s why I believe that Organic fruits, vegetable, nuts and seeds are the healthiest foods on the planet. There are many great ways to prepare foods today to make them taste great and in the long run you will experience a much higher state of good health to justify this. I know that organic foods can be expensive but I believe that as there is more demand the prices keep coming down. Growing your own can help reduce the costs greatly if this is possible. People can also look into food co-ops which can really help. When you are eating the right foods you will fill up faster and can therefore eat less which is good for many reasons.
I start out with fruit and cereal with organic soy or almond milk. Sometimes I just have cereal with a banana in it. For lunch I have a large salad and usually put a half avocado and a baked potato into it. I use Apple Cider Vinegar and Olive oil for the dressing and use some nice spices and herbs to make it even tastier. By the way this is usually my biggest meal of the day. For dinner I like some fruit followed by some nuts or seeds. I recommend eating the fruit first since it will digest quicker.
I have to credit Ann Wigmore (Hippocrates Health Institute) and other authors, Harvey and Marylyn Diamond (Fit For Life) as well as Dick Gregory, Arnold Ehret, Paul Bragg, Herb Shelton, TC Frye and NC Walker for much of my early learning on eating and living right.
I also want to credit Napolean Hill, Anthony Robbins, Kevin Trudeau, Dale Carnegie Rhonda Byrne, Zig Ziglar and many others who have helped me learn to keep the right mindset.

I also want to thank God for this wonderful life

experience that I am having and for giving me the ability to learn all the things that are important to me to continue to be health and happy. I am sure that there are many others that I am also grateful to for presenting the knowledge and motivation to keep me on the right path and by the way I started getting health when I was 22 years old. At another time I’ll talk about some of my experiences before that, but they were not always health oriented.
I wish you all a great day and hope that you are also on the right path to health and happiness.
